I’ve been in the technology industry since 1991 and have held positions as a software developer, analyst, IT manager, DBA, and architect. I like to get my hands dirty, solve the tricky problems and be creative.
Learning never stops. I hope to share some of the things that I have learned while solving some of the problems I’ve faced. Most times with knowing little to nothing about where to start, and with little success finding exactly what I’m looking for.
My tech stack consists of Java, Perl, Java Script, Oracle, SQL Server, HANA, and Postgres (I’m pretty heavy on the database side of things). My experience has primarily been developing applications to be deployed on-premise, but since 2015 I have been working on solutions in the cloud. My most recent years I have been working within the SAP Cloud Platform, and I’m looking to expand this to AWS and GCP. Cloud Foundry is a new adventure for me. Data modeling is part of what I do, though there are folks who do it much better than I. My passion is solving problems, and sharing what I have learned.
Well its not really a ranch, but a little bit of acreage where we enjoy our horses, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, our adult kids and my dad. I am ridiculously blessed, and when I get down and out (it happens), all I have to do it step out my back porch and see my beautiful white ducks float by and the chickens chasing each other…its harmony.
Most days are quiet, and my work interruption usually consists of the roosters deciding to crow under my office window. Occasionally a horse will run by and its hoof stomping jars me out of concentration. My kids will come over to my part of the property where my office is located with some kind of demand, I mean question.
At the beginning and end of every day I am feeding and caring for the animals and grateful for it all.
